Mountaintop Castaways

Synopsis: An adventure guided by you, the reader, about amnesiacs stranded on mysterious mountains. You choose what will happen next.

Chapter 1, Page 1

You wake up in a patch of grass. You gaze at your surroundings, and find that you are high up on a tall mountain, surrounded by clouds. In the distance, you can see the peaks of a few other mountains. You can also hear the whirring blades of a helicopter, and you look upwards and see that it is heading away from you. In your vicinity, you spot a man harvesting some sort of crop, and a couple of tall poles with security cameras on top. And in front of you, there is a small cottage.

Your mind follows the usual train of thought of people in your type of situation. First, it starts with a “Where am I?”, then a “How did I get here?”, and from there the floodgate of questions opens, where you try to remember every detail that led you here and realize you have a million more questions than answers. Eventually, they inevitably lead to the most frightening question of them all: “Do I even remember who I am?”

For a second you panic, worrying that the answer is “no.” But then you take a moment to catch your breath, and realize, fortunately, you do at least remember who you are. How could you forget, with a name as memorable as yours? And how could you lose your confidence, even if just for a second, when that vast and gleeful sense of confidence is the one trait you are most known for? How could you ever be afraid of uncertainty when you are the one responsible for passionately inspiring others to overcome that same fear? Maybe other people might forget their name in such a daunting situation, but not you! After all, you are the one and only…

Wait, now you’re back to blanking out. What was your name again?
