Mountaintop Castaways: Page 5

Synopsis: An adventure guided by you, the reader, about amnesiacs stranded on mysterious mountains. You choose what will happen next.

Chapter 1, Page 5

You (LUMA LUMBA) decide to WANDER INTO THE FOREST IN SEARCH OF HELP.

Surely somebody on this mountain (besides you) doesn’t want to be here, right? Or could be convinced into escaping? You hold off hope that not everyone here has bought into this cult-like set of demands for living.

As you run into the forest you notice the tall post containing video cameras at the top, and try to duck to avoid their field of view. You’ll have to be wary of the surveillance measures the people here have set up. It seems unlikely they’ll just let you escape without doing anything about it.

You venture through the forest for a couple hours, and, admittedly, find yourself amazed by all the unusual plants and lizards you see. The bright green ferns and trees with leaves bigger than your head astound you. You see several species of salamanders and a few species of newts, geckos, and frogs. It really would be a nice place to explore further, but right now you want to find an ally so that you don’t have to survive on this mountain alone. If you needed to, you could always go back to your “house” to get food, but you’re worried that if you head back, Albert and this “Mountain Manager” won’t let you leave again.

Eventually, you make it to the end of the forest, and find yourself near the edge of the mountain. The cliffside is quite steep, so any chance of traveling down it and surviving is slim. But then you see in the distance… a gondola? Yes! It is a gondola lift that will take you off of the mountain! But wait, it appears someone is standing in front of the lift, seemingly guarding it. Looks like you’ll have to stay hidden from them.

As you stealthily step closer, you see that this mysterious figure is holding a walkie talkie and talking into it.

“Tree Frog to Warlock, Tree Frog to Warlock, over.”

“….” (You can’t hear what the person on the other end is saying.)

“What’s the status on Venetian? Did he really try to escape?”

“….”

“So they caught him?”

“….”

“Good.”

“….”

“Yes. No one can leave these mountains. Ever.”

This last line makes a chill run down your spine. Can you truly never leave? Suddenly you hear a leaf crinkle under your feet. It seems you got so worried that you accidentally shifted your balance and made a noise!

“Hey, you!”, says the mysterious figure angrily. You try to run away, but immediately hear, “Don’t run, I can see you and you’re not getting away!”

Oh no! What will you do next?
